About the National Journal Club​
The Medics.Academy National Journal Club is an initiative that engages participants in the critical appraisal of clinical research. Participants are regularly provided with research papers and guided through a series of questions to critique the content, culminating in an extended certificate in Research and Critical Appraisal.
Brief work description
The Student Director will oversee the continuous operation of the Journal Club, ensuring the timely provision of suitable research papers and the dissemination of regular newsletters that highlight exemplary participant responses. While existing mechanisms for distributing papers and collecting responses are in place, the Student Director is encouraged to offer critiques and recommendations for improvement. After one year in this role, the successful applicant will be eligible for a fast-track application to the Healthcare Leadership Academy Scholars Programme.
Key responsibilities

Identify and select research papers that are appropriate for participant critique, ensuring relevance and educational value.

Review and assess participant responses, providing constructive feedback to facilitate learning and improvement.

Compile and produce regular email newsletters that showcase outstanding participant critiques and provide insights into the discussed research

Manage the existing systems for paper distribution and response collection, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.

Work with the Medics.Academy team to offer suggestions for programme improvement and implement approved changes.
Requirements

Clinical research acumen - Demonstrated ability to assess and comprehend clinical research, with a keen eye for detail and critical analysis.

Communication skills - Proficiency in written communication, particularly in producing engaging and informative newsletter

Organisational abilities - Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines effectively.

Team collaboration - Ability to work collaboratively within a team, offering and accepting feedback constructively.
